About Us

 Our Mission Statement:

To provide the world with quality braiders who are skilled in the long term repair and continued maintenance of natural hair through reliable, painless and affordable braids, twists and locks.

 Our Purpose:

House Braids understands that the world is changing into a place where people are becoming more conscious of the environmental bad habits created by today’s society. As a result, an increasing number of people are making efforts to protect and preserve themselves and the earth. Companies are ‘going green’ on multiple levels from ergonomics in the workplace to companywide recycling. Various nations around the world are taking action like developing alternative methods of energy other than oil; that are safer to the atmosphere like air, water, solar power and foods.

House Braids is playing its part from a hair care perspective by introducing the first ever ergonomic braid classes.  People realize the long term damaging effects of chemicals to the hair and are searching for alternative, safer styles. A good example of this is the increase in lace wigs and hair attachments being sold which allow a person to wear styles without damaging their own hair. Braids are the other alternative.

House Braids has offered its services for over 20 years in different states and it sees the increase for the need in quality braiders. Now, the number of braiders is increasing throughout the United States and abroad but the problem occurring is that this growing skill lacks organization.  Braiders today don’t have complete resources that can train them to become quality braiders. Most resources available are online instructional videos that lack a key component to training, hands on. And most existing braid schools don’t offer the necessary soft skills classes that are crucial to dealing with the public. So customers suffer by having problems finding quality braiders that are:

ü  Reliable

ü  Experienced

ü  Affordable

ü  Painless

ü  And actually assist in the empowerment of the customers’ hair growth

House Braids plans to solve this problem by PROPERLY training individuals in the knowledge of hair

treatment and maintenance while using the Tiersta Technique® (a painless form of braiding). Customers

will be able to travel anywhere and receive the same House Braids quality of service.

'Tiersta' Certification Training

Company history and goals

House Braids was started by T. Dawn Banks from her home in San  Francisco, California. Through higher education and traveling she learned how to manage and market her new ergonomic technique of painless braiding called the ‘Tiersta Technique’. She opened her first salon in Denver, Colorado in late 2005 which has quickly grown in clientele.

As a sole proprietor, Dawn found it impossible to handle the need for expansion alone, so she decided the most effective way to expand is to teach people via the first ever ergonomic certification program. This program will include:

 - National recognition as a certified Tiersta Technician

 - Additional resources as a Tiersta Technician

 - Opportunities to take advanced classes as a Tiersta Technician
